NLP and Health
NLP has many, many health applications. Perhaps one of the
first health applications of NLP was the creation of the
counterexample process, designed to cure allergies.
Allergies are basically a mistake of the immune system, and
the fascinating counterexample process retrains the immune
system in a matter of minutes.
The creation of the neurological levels also was a
breakthrough in NLP and health. Many health issues such as
cancer and AIDS usually lie in identity and spiritual issues. Here's a
breakdown of the neurological levels
Environmental Change
Behavioral Change
Capabilities Change
Belief Change
Identity Change
Spiritual Change
The belief, identity, and spiritual levels are usually where
serious health issues are worked with, and dramatic change
can be created there using tools learned in advanced NLP
training, starting perhaps in the NLP Master Practitioner
Training.
Another dramatic breakthrough in health is NLP's embracement of positive
intent. A first step to any health issue is to identify the positive
intent of the symptom. This can be as simple as a scratchy throat that
wishes you would slow down, to cancer having, for example, the positive
intention that you dramatically change your career. These are just
examples.
When an NLP artists starts paying attention to his or her
symptoms and their positive intentions, a new paradigm is
created in the practitioner, a feedback loop that invites
alignment in that person's self to take care of themselves.
This is not a replacement for the medical disciplines, but an
enhancement, where any illness can be improved or cured
and the medical field can be used to support the change or
verify that the change has occurred.
It is common for a new exploratory practitioner to downplay
the medical field, but true integration is about incorporating all
aspects of ourselves, and there definitely is a place and time for the
medical field's tools, especially if there are beliefs deeply rooted in
medical practices. Many people are taught from very young that the
medical field is important, so it can and really should be incorporated.
NLP and health has grown since the day of the creation of
the counterexample and the discovery of positive intention
and true strides are being made to help in the cure of
diseases such as cancer and AIDS. NLP is great for those
smaller ailments, where positive intention alone can make a
big difference. When we acknowledge a symptom, and care for it, it
begins to resolve and alignment occurs.
We can learn a lot from our symptoms, and it will be interesting to see
what new applications are made in the
area of health and NLP in the coming years. How exciting it
is to watch NLP grow and change to be a more powerful health asset for
all who embrace it.
